There was a graveside service last week for what remains of the NCAA basketball tournament, at least in the nation's sports pages. When just four mid-majors earned at-large berths in this year's field of 65, the tournament was declared dead on arrival and non-BCS basketball programs were placed on the endangered species list, somewhere around polar bears, the mid-range jumper and
Mike Krzyzewski's natural hair color.
Had you'd listened to all the complaints about the field, you would've believed there was so much of a bias against the little guy that short-but-stout Kansas point guard
Sherron Collins was asked to wear stilettos just to play in the thing, and David Spade was asked to not even watch online.

Among the big story lines from Sunday's filling out of the NCAA basketball tournament field, discussions of conferences who are "overrated" and "underrated" dominated the discussion. Specifically, fans of so-called mid-major teams cried foul, and the masses proclaimed the selection committee was biased in favor of the Big Ten and Pac-10 conferences.
