Penn State Fans Enjoy NIT Victory

Many so-called BCS programs have fan bases who would be rather indifferent toward their team playing in the NIT. For a program on the rise like Penn State, however, winning the NIT championship this season would be an extremely valuable step in program advancement. Plus, when you have a first-team All-Big Ten player in Talor Battle, it's plenty exciting. Watch -- starting around the 50-second mark if you just want the best part -- as Battle sends the game to overtime. The Nittany Lions would go on, with the help of two more Battle threes, to win 77-73 in overtime. Battle was the leading scorer in the game with 24 points. They'll play Rhode Island Thursday night.

Props to the fans in attendance for continuing to support their team. It had to have been heartbreaking to flush their NCAA Tourney hopes down the toilet in Iowa after a huge home win over Illinois. Though they are losing Jamelle Cornley and Stanley Pringle, the future looks promising with a star like Battle having two years of eligibility remaining.
